ABOUT ABOUT

The year was 1949: President Harry S. Truman was frequenting Key West for working vacations, Mayor A. Maitland Adams dedicated the brand new Truman Avenue in his honor, and The Key West Cookbook was published by the members of Key West Woman’s Club.

As the intro to the beloved tome states, “This is more than just another cookbook; the very names of the ingredients will evoke the perfumes and flavors of the Florida Keys for you.”

Join us for an evening of Key West-centric fare by Chef Martha Hubbard as it was prepared in the 1949 edition of The Key West Cookbook while some of your favorite Key West performers read excerpts from its chapters. Proceeds from the evening benefit members of the Drama Club at Key West High School.
